The Directorate General for Active and Passive Labour Policies is responsible for the development of integrated intervention programs to support the employment and employability of human capital; the provision of re-employment programmes, training policies and plans, as well as guidance and reinforcement of employability; and for acting as ESF Managing Authority.

The Transnational Cooperation Unit of ISFOL acts as partner in the Network on behalf of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies.
ISFOL is a public research institute supervised by the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies. Since 1973, ISFOL has been playing an institutional role in the field of vocational training, employment and social inclusion; both at national and international level.
In fulfilment of this mission, ISFOL carries out research, surveys, consultancy and Technical Assistance (TA) activities in the two core areas of labour market and social policies and training policies and systems.
Since the 1990s, ISFOL has been providing TA to EU-funded programmes and initiatives (PETRA Community Action Programme; EMPLOYMENT and ADAPT Community Initiative Programmes (CIP); EQUAL CIP and Leonardo da Vinci).
At present, ISFOL is the National Agency for the LLP- Leonardo da Vinci Sectoral Programme and a Europass National Centre. The Institute is the National Evaluation Structure for the European Social Fund (ESF).
ISFOL is also a member of a number of international and European networks, such as ENQA-VET, European network for Quality Assurance and ReferNet.
Finally, ISFOL is the Local Contact Point for the Eurodesk Network and National Centre of Resources for Guidance, located at its Benevento Branch Office.
